Fallowfield and The Northern Quarter are known to students as the two main areas for nightlife in Manchester.Fallowfield has a great selection of pubs and clubs that are perfect for Fresher’s week and pub crawls, whereas the Northern Quarter is ideal for second years and above. It’s full of underground clubs, secret bars and cosy pubs for evenings and sport events.

Manchester Cathederal - site

Sat on the banks of the River Irwell, officially the Cathedral and Collegiate Church of St. Mary, St. Denys, and St. George - dates mostly from 1422 to 1506 and was raised to cathedral status in 1847. It was built between 1486 and 1508.

National Football Museum - site

Manchester is home to two of Europe’s top football teams, Man City and Man United. Pay homage to the country’s favourite sport and visit the National Football Museum that features memorabilia such as the first rulebook as well as trophies and clothing.

Manchester Art Gallery - site

You’ll find some of the largest art collections in Britain outside of London in the Manchester Art Gallery. The gallery includes works by the pre-Raphaelites; Flemish masters of the 17th century; French impressionists, including Gauguin, Manet, Monet; & German artists such as Max Ernst.

Chinatown Manchester - site

Home of one of the largest Chinese communities in Britain, Chinatown is only a stone's throw from the Manchester Art Gallery. The beautifully decorated arched gateway that leads into the district is striking. There are a variety of shops and restaurants that offer a wide range of culinary delicacies from Hong Kong and Beijing. Discover unique Chinese handicrafts and artworks at the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Art (CFCCA).
